Larry
Herring
Oct 11, 1945 — Nov 14, 2021
Nichols
Larry James Herring, 76, of Nichols, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter on November 14, 2021. He was born in Mullins, South Carolina on October 11, 1945, the son of the late Marvin Doll Herring and the late Corine Altman Herring.
Larry spent many years working at Dupont Industries, where he was an iron worker. An avid hunter, he spent many hours with his friends at Causey Hunting Club, where he was a member and held the nickname, Waterhole. Larry enjoyed collecting various items including knives, tools, and guns. He believed in only driving a Ford and could often be found at Hardee's getting his daily steak biscuit. A man with the ability to make you laugh and liven up the party, he will be greatly missed by those knew and loved him. He will especially be missed by his grandchildren with whom he enjoyed playing and spending time with. His sister will always remember him as her real life, Baby Doll.
In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda Herring, to whom he was married for 58 years, a son, Michael Shawn Herring, and a brother, Marvin Herring.
He is survived by his son, Larry Kenneth "Kenny" Herring (Connie) of Nichols and a daughter, Loria Herring Collins (Johnny) of Marion; five grandchildren, Dennis James Herring (Keli) of Conway, Bradley Kenneth Herring of Nichols, Summer Collins Hayes (Dusty) of Latta, Kemp Collins (Heather) of Marion, and Justin Larry Herring of Nichols; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Brooklynn, Brayden, Sawyer, Levi, Hannah, and soon to be Webb Elliott, and a sister, Margie Herring Miller (Robert) of Lake View.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Elliott Cemetery in Nichols with Reverend Kemp Collins officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
