Anita
Elliott
Jan 5, 1938 — Feb 22, 2021
Nichols
Anita Elliott, 83, of Nichols passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 22, 2021. Surrounded by her loving earthly family as she breathed her last breath, Anita was welcomed into her heavenly home and greeted by her late husband, Joe P. Elliott.
Born January 5, 1938 in Horry County, Anita was the daughter of the late Frank Elliott and Loria Small Elliott and one of nine siblings. There are many fond memories of this kind lady who touched the lives of all with whom she came in contact. She was an avid gardener who found immense pleasure in planting flowers and nurturing them until they realized their full potential and beauty. Her efforts in producing wonderful flowers were known throughout the community. She was an active member, until her declining health, of the Floyds Freewill Baptist Church. Her love for God and her commitment to her Lord and Savior were unquestioned and her faith was always steadfast. Anita was an exercise enthusiast who was fond of her treadmill and known to use her machine for sixty minutes continuously without pausing for a rest. She prided herself in maintaining excellent physical condition. Her greatest love was her family with whom she treasured each moment and occasion. A woman who spoke her mind and always expressed her thoughts and opinions, Anita will always be remembered as that special lady who was immensely loved and returned that love many times over to her beloved family.
She is survived by daughters Gail Buffkin (James) of Nichols and Sherry Floyd (Steve) of Nichols. Also left to cherish her memory is a brother Elbert Elliott (Patricia) of Nichols and a sister Linda Herring (Larry) of Nichols. Anita leaves grandchildren James Buffkin Jr. (Julie Fullwood), Cameron Buffkin (Becky), Rebecca Buffkin and Eden Hucks to fondly reflect on her love. In addition to her parents and husband, Anita was predeceased by brothers Ben Elliott, Thelbert Elliott, Clyde Elliott and Bruce Elliott. Her sisters Leta Barfield and Annette Elliott also preceded her in death.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Elliott Cemetery in Nichols with the Reverend Michael Caulder officiating. Friends and family are encouraged to pay their final respects for Anita but are also reminded to practice social distancing and use the utmost caution when around others. Please wear a protective mask and refrain from a handshake or hug. A kind word and heartfelt prayer would mean much more to the family during this time of sadness.
An online guestbook is available at www.mearesfh.com .
Anita is in the care of Meares Funeral Home of Mullins.
