Obituary

Barbara Ann Jones Brown, 89, of Mullins passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. She was born in Mullins on March 9, 1933, the daughter of the late George L. Jones, Sr., and the late Dorothy Powell Jones.

Barbara was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church, where she touched many lives as a Sunday School teacher for the kindergarten and first grade children for over thirty years. A former member of the choir, she enjoyed singing and worshipping with the members of the church and as a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who as a homemaker was able to devote her time to taking care of her family. She enjoyed reading in her spare time. Her family grieves her loss but finds comfort in knowing that she has joined her Heavenly Father and is reunited with her beloved "Brownie" again.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Legrand Davis "Brownie" Brown, Sr., and a brother, George L. "Skeeter" Jones.

She is survived by her sons, L.D. "Davy" Brown and his wife, Suzanne Rasheed Brown of Richmond, Virginia, and Donald L. "Donnie" Brown and his wife, Patsy Gleason Brown of Mullins; four grandchildren, Jennifer Brown Flaherty (Matt) of Raleigh, North Carolina, William Christopher Brown (Meghan) of Los Angeles, California, Kayla Elizabeth Brown Sessions and Laura Ashleigh Brown Lynch (Scot), both of Mullins; seven great-grandchildren, Jones, Dylan, Grayson, Jasper, Banks, Waylon, and Ellie Brynn; several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Anora Williamson Rainey, of Henderson, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Robbie Baxley officiating. Interment will be at Cedardale Cemetery.

If you would like to remember Barbara, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to Mullins First Baptist Church Christian Life Center, P.O. Box 443, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.

The family would like to thank Agape Care for the exceptional and supportive care for their mother.
