Mullins- Bert Neal Anderson, 84, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at Carolinas Hospital System in Marion with his family by his side. He was born in Marion County, a son of the late Ernest L. and Lois Neal Anderson. Bert Neal was a graduate of Mullins High School, Oak Ridge Military Academy, and the University of South Carolina. Upon his graduation, he returned to Mullins and began a long career in the family banking business. He was President of Anderson Brothers Bank from 1978 to 1984. He was Chairman of the Board of Anderson State Bank until its merger with Anderson Brothers Bank in 2000. He was presently serving as Chairman of the Board of Anderson Brothers Bank. Bert Neal was an avid Gamecock fan and proud season ticket holder for many years. He loved the tobacco industry that once thrived in Mullins and was one of the principal owners of Big Three Warehouse. He was a lifetime member of Macedonia United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Betty McDonald Anderson; three sons, Neal Anderson and his wife, Joyce of Hemingway, Tommy Anderson and his wife, Cindy of Mullins, and David Anderson and his wife, Pam of Mullins; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Cedardale Cemetery in Mullins directed by Meares Funeral Home.
