Obituary

Billy Ray Collins, 77, of Mullins passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2022 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born in Scotland County, North Carolina on February 6, 1945, the son of the late Mary Catherine Collins Hill.

Billy loved music and had quite a collection of old vinyl records and CDs of his favorite recording artists. In keeping with his love of collecting things, he also had many old model race cars and trucks. He was a simple and quiet man who was well known for wearing his signature hat. Billy was very respectful of others, never bothering anyone but willing to help if it was needed. He moved to Mullins after he was transferred here while working with Spring Mills Textiles. After they closed, he went on to work with Wellman Industries and worked as a guard at the prison camp. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Sue Collins; two daughters, Kimberly C. Brown (Don) of Maineville, Ohio and Susan Collins of Mullins; three grandchildren, Collin, Trevor (Mary Ezzell) and Lasey Collins.

In keeping with Billy's wishes, there are no services planned at this time.

If you would like to remember Billy, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to three very special organizations that helped provide them with a handicapped ramp at their home, including Mission Mullins, Celebrate Recovery, and the Methodist Men. The donations should be sent to Mission Mullins, c/o Mullins Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 671, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.

The family would like to thank Agape Care for the exceptional care they showed Billy and for the support and comfort they provided for the family.
