Obituary

Bobbie Jean Ford Clark, 89, of Marion, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Florence on Thursday, July 25, 2024. She was born in Marion County on September 8, 1934, the daughter of the late John Admiral Ford and the late Madge Campbell Ford.

Bobbie Jean grew up in Nichols in a loving family, where she was the seventh of eight children. She was a stay at home mom for several years before she began working at the Marion County Tax Assessor's Office. She later transitioned to the Housing Authority of Marion. For over thirty-five years, she worked tirelessly to help others find affordable housing.

Her family was the most important thing to her. It is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Bobbie Jean shared a beautiful mother-daughter relationship with her daughter, Janet, as they enriched each other's lives. Bobbie Jean was a role model, best friend, and source of strength for her daughter. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her.

In addition to her parents, Bobbie Jean was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Clark Cartee and her husband, Hal of Florence; a grandson, Brandon James Cartee, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2024, in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the committal service.
