Obituary

Bobby Carl Sellars of Mullins, SC passed away Wednesday, July 29th at Lexington Medical Center. He was 76. Bobby was born in Cowpens, South Carolina on June 11, 1950, the son of the late John Calvin Sellars and the late Caroline Edna Blanton Sellars.

Mr. Sellars graduated from the Baptist College in Charleston in 1974. In 1976, he earned his Masters of Education from Francis Marion University and began a rewarding career of over forty years in education. Bobby, as well as, his late wife, Ellen, loved teaching and serving children. Bobby wanted to give every child an equal opportunity. Daily he would stay after school to pour into those students who wanted more. He also would load up the back of his red Toyota Pickup Truck daily to make sure they made it home safely. He wanted to show them they were worthy, and they were loved!

Bobby was the epitome of a Servant Leader. Above all, he was first a Man of God, who devoted his time as a member of Macedonia UMC. He loved being a leader of ministry while being the hands and feet of Christ in many forms. He was a leader and member of the Methodist Men, a leader in his Sunday School class, the Chancel Choir, the handbell ministry, and a SC Methodist Church Lay Speaker. Bobby was a devoted husband, and he loved pouring into their three children in a loving, Christian home. He also served in the Lions Club, Habitat for Humanity, International Exchange Student Host family, Guardian Ad Litem, and the Loris Garden Club. Bobby was an avid Atlanta Braves and Clemson Tiger fan.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Ellen Stoudenmire Sellars. Bobby is survived by his three children, John Paul (Beth) Sellars of Lexington, SC, Caroline S. Counts of Hendersonville, NC, and Julia S. (Cedrick) Washington of Chaptico, Maryland; siblings, Johnny L. Sellars (Margaret), Roger Sellars (Bridget), and Diane Liebenrood (Charles); a sister-in-law, Linda S. (Leroy) Thompson of Sanford, NC; a brother-in-law, David E. Stoudenmire Jr. of Loris; and five grandchildren, Brayton, Clark, Cara, Rollin, and Troupe.
