Obituary

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord." Jeremiah 17:7

Carl Elton Israel, 74, of Nichols, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 2, 2025, while surrounded by Nancy, his loving wife of fifty-two years, and their daughters. He was born in Mullins, South Carolina on August 29, 1950, the son of the late Lonzo Israel and the late Madge Britt Israel.

Carl learned the values of hard work and dedication at an early age, as he worked alongside his parents on their farm in Nichols. He loved the land and nurtured it with great care through the years to provide for his family, just as his parents had done. His life was marked by his deep connection to his church, White Savannah Freewill Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon for many years, and his family, with farming being an integral part of his journey.

Carl faithfully lived his values and taught others through his example of deep love and giving selflessly. His family and his firm belief in God supported him through the years and as his health began to decline. While there is deep grief in his passing, there is solace in the hope of Christ and the assurance that we will one day be reunited.

In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by a grandson, Carson Hatcher.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Baker Israel; daughters, Jill Israel Kolesar and her husband, Dave, Christy Israel Barnhill, and Jenny Israel Richardson and her husband, Wesley; a sister, Janet Faye Israel, four grandchildren, Jack Kolesar, David Kolesar, Kendal Barnhill, and Kaylee Hatcher.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the sanctuary of White Savannah Freewill Baptist Church in Conway. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the sanctuary of the church with Reverend Stephen Hyman, Reverend Buddy Seay, and Reverend Dale Willoughby officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Nichols.

If you would like to remember Carl, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Louise Hardee, 610 Gapway Street, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.
