Obituary

Gary Carlisle Mincey, 77, of the Mt. Olive Community of Nichols, passed away peacefully at the Medical University of South Carolina on Wednesday evening surrounded by his beloved wife, Janet and their girls. Carlisle was born in Horry County on September 20, 1944, the son of the late Gary Mincey and Pearl Jones Mincey.

Carlisle worked with Dupont Industries and retired from there after many years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with family and friends. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed the natural beauty of the farm and the places he loved to fish. He maintained a large garden and was known for generously sharing his vegetables with others. The source of his greatest joy was his family. Carlisle leaves behind a legacy that is consistent with his values and he has passed it on to his children-a legacy of love for others and for our Lord and Savior, generosity, and strength. He was a member of Firefall Bible Church.

In addition to his parents, Carlisle was predeceased by three brothers, Douglas, George, and Lacy Charles Mincey.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Janet Causey Mincey; three daughters, Tracy Rodriguez-Mincey (Carlos) of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Kelly Satterfield (Lee) of Nichols, and Angel Bruno (Terrence) of Ft. Bragg, NC; nine grandchildren, Daniela and Benjamin Rodriguez-Mincey, Jacob (Kennedy) and Jesse Satterfield, and Caleb, Luke, Samuel, Charlotte, and John Bruno; two great-grandchildren, Alaileigh and Josiah Satterfield; several nieces and nephews, and two sisters-in-law, Pat and Patsy Mincey, both of Nichols.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Ricky Hardee officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Nichols.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the American Bible Society, P.O. Box 96812, Washington, D.C. 20090, or to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, North Carolina 28607, or to Firefall Bible Church, 6221 Highway 9, Nichols, South Carolina 29581.
