Clara Spivey Alford, 89, of Mullins passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Mullins Nursing Center. She was born in Loris, South Carolina on February 15, 1931, the daughter of the late Macon M. Spivey and Lucille Faircloth Spivey.

Clara was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was a strong, caring and kind woman with a sweet smile. She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard, music and going to the beach. A longtime member of Mullins First Baptist Church, she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and sang with the Young at Heart Choir. She also enjoyed visiting Loris, where she grew up near the Loris Hospital.

In addition to her parents, Clara was predeceased by her first husband, Auburn L. "Bernie" Alford.

She is survived by her husband, Eldon Elliott of Mullins; two daughters, Sherry A. Wells (John) of Elgin and Auby Alford Rogers of Mullins; a grandson, Harrison Ross Wells; two stepsons, Marion Elliott (Karla) of Greenville and Michael Elliott of Nichols; one step-granddaughter, Myka Elliott of Myrtle Beach and two step-grandsons, Mark Elliott of Greenville and Scott Elliott of Murrells Inlet.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2020 in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home. The family will receive friends in the chapel following the service. We respectfully request that you wear a mask and practice social distancing while in the funeral home.  A kind word in lieu of a hug or handshake is appreciated. The family will have a committal service at Red Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
