Obituary

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14

With broken hearts we announce the passing of Copelynn Scarlett Childs, beloved baby girl of Lawrence Childs and Kayley Elliott Childs. She arrived on September 4, 2024, a blessing placed softly into the arms of her parents. She now rests in the arms of the angels. She brought a quiet joy and a love that filled every part of her parents' heart. Though her time here was short, her presence, smile, and light will be missed more than words could ever describe. Copelynn will always remain her parents' precious baby and Sawyer's little sister, and they will hold her again in heaven one day. God knows his very plans, and now they give her back into His hands to take care of as only He can.

Copelynn was greeted in heaven by her maternal great-grandparents, Evander Elliott and Patty Sue "Ma", her maternal great-grandfather, Randy Sain, paternal great-grandparents, Dr. Paul "Pop Pop" and Betty "BC" Childs, William Dennis "Al" and Anna Rogers "Anna."

She is survived by her loving parents, Lawrence and Kayley Childs; a brother, Sawyer Childs; maternal grandparents, Shaun and Kasi Elliott; paternal grandparents, Lawrence "Larry" and Teresa "Terri" Childs; maternal great-grandmother, Linda Sain "Nana"; aunts, Addison "Ah Ah" Elliott and Olivia "Liv" Elliott; aunts and uncles, Dylan "Pickle" Edwards and Katelyn "Kate Kate" Edwards, Joe "Joe Joe" Martin and Brittany "BB" Martin, and Terry "Papa T" and CJ Whisenhunt.

A service to honor her short life will be held in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, with Reverend Benji Hutson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. The family will lay Copelynn to rest at Elliott Cemetery.
