Sep 21, 1930 — Dec 21, 2025
Mullins
"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." 1 Peter 4:10
On Sunday evening, December 21, 2025, Civil Jolly "Crickett" Martin, widow of Woody Martin, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Horry County on September 21, 1930, the daughter of the late Mack Jolly and the late Louise Sarvis Jolly.
Throughout Crickett's life, she used her God-given gifts to serve others in the community through her business endeavors. She, along with her husband, Woody, owned and operated Martin's Motel and Lounge in Mullins for many years. They later assumed ownership of Dry Dock, which is a cornerstone in the community. Crickett's passion for hospitality was evident in every dish and every greeting she provided as you walked in the door. Their warmth, hospitality, and dedication to guests and staff built not only a restaurant, but also a family and a legacy. Together, they also built Martin's Bowling and Skating Center and Crickett Cove Marina which brought entertainment to both young and old in Marion and Horry County. Crickett also loved fashion and enjoyed helping people find the perfect outfit at her former business, Crickett's Dress Shop and Florist. She made clothes shopping a pleasure for many women and they trusted her keen sense of style.
Crickett's success and love for her business was only outmatched by her success and love as a mother and a grandmother. She and her husband raised two wonderful sons, Ricky and Mike, who have followed in her footsteps and taken over the family businesses. She was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Crickett was predeceased by her husband, Woodrow J. Martin, daughter-in-law, Rita Miller Martin, and her sisters, Eloise Jolly Strickland and Carleen Jolly Rowell.
She is survived by her sons, Ricky Dean Martin and Jerry Michael Martin (Mitzi) of Mullins; loving grandchildren, Michael Bryant Martin and Lauren Michelle Martin; a special niece, Sandra Small; a devoted friend who was like a son, Mitchell Genwright, and her Dry Dock and Martin's Skating Rink family.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in the Fellowship Hall of Mullins First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church with Reverend Robbie Baxley officiating. Interment will be at Devotion Gardens.
If you would like to remember Crickett, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to Mullins First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 443, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.
The family would like to thank Crickett's caregivers and McLeod Hospice for their skilled and compassionate support and for making sure that her last days were filled with love, comfort, and peace.
