Danny Gerrald, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at MUSC - Florence Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Mullins, South Carolina on June 24, 1952, to the late Samuel Davis Gerrald, Sr. and Edith Mae Small Gerrald.

Danny was a retired truck driver who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, dirt track racing, and spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. His family and friends were an important part of his life, and the memories they shared will be treasured by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by Sondra’s parents, Grady and Lillie Plumley; his brothers, Sammy and Jacky Gerrald; and his sister, Jeanette Gibson.

Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 49 years, Sondra Plumley Gerrald; his children, Tina Lewis, Shannon Watson (Brian), Autumn Ham (Andrew), Justin Gerrald (Sarah), Alyssa Gerrald (Brian Owens); his grandchildren, McCoy Watson (Lu), Brianna Watson, Gabe Watson (Abby), Weston Gerrald, Alina Ham (Alonzo Harrison), Layne Gerrald, Charly Gerrald, Baez Owens, Jordan Lewis (Allison), and Brittany Cook (Matthew). He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Emma Cook, Parker Cook, Pearson Lewis, Lily Watson, Jakob Johnson, Kayson Bartley, Walker Watson and Sailor Gerrald.

Danny is also survived by his brother, Randy Gerrald (Teresa); sister-in-law, Florence Gerrald; brothers-in-law, Jerry Gibson and Jim Plumley (Rita); special nephew, Bo Gerrald and many other loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Meares Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Kevin Roberts officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Landrum, South Carolina, with Reverend Randy Smith officiating.
