David Charles
Bult, Jr.
May 11, 1970 — Apr 26, 2025
Mullins
Reverend Dr. David Charles "Dave" Bult, Jr., 54, of Mullins, went to be with his Lord and Savior, April 26, 2025, while at his home. He was the son of Dr. David Charles Bult, Sr. and the late Sylvia Freeman Bult. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Fuller Bult; son, David Charles Bult III; father, Dr. David Charles Bult, Sr. (special friend Geraldine Hatchell); his brother, Rev. Bryan Bult (Michelle); nieces, Mary Drew Bult, Anna Campbell Bult, and Linsey Burtis Fuller; nephews, Freeman Bult and Harrison Bult.
A lifelong student and voracious reader and writer, Dave earned his bachelor's degree from Valdosta State University in 1997, before pursuing master's level studies and seminary training at Dallas Theological Seminary and Carolina Bible College. Finally, he earned his Doctorate of Ministry degree at Evangelical Theological Seminary. Dave cherished all of God's Word, reading and studying it ceaselessly. He especially loved and aspired to live by Psalm 119:165 "Great peace have they which love the law; nothing shall offend them."
Dave was a "gentle giant" who dedicated his life enthusiastically to win the lost to Jesus Christ and to pastor his flock, family and friends. A faithful servant to the end, he tirelessly shepherded the congregation under his care. By precept and example, he never stopped encouraging them to grow in their faith and to become witnesses to those they know. Dave first embraced his calling as a pastor with boundless energy as an assistant to his father at Blessed Hope Baptist Church on Temperance Hill Road in Marion. He was then called to Kingsburg Baptist Church in 2010, where he would faithfully preach the gospel and care for his flock until the Lord called him home. A beloved pastor and teacher with a genuine love for people, he never stopped reaching out to all God's children. A stranger to no one, Dave made an effort to befriend everyone he met. He would never hesitate to help anyone in any way he could, lightening the load of countless people the Lord placed in his path. Dave was the epitome of a kind and gentle spirit, exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit in countless everyday acts of humble kindness. His love for his church family and his immediate family was abundantly evident. Above all other desires, Dave was compelled to win the lost and encourage them to receive Christ and never passed up an opportunity to share his Savior's love.
In addition to his normal pastoral labors, Dave also made time to serve as Editor-In-Chief of the monthly publication, The Christian Voice, and oversaw the distribution of over 4,000 copies monthly. Not only a gifted preacher, Dave was also a faithful shepherd who visited people in their homes, hospital beds, prison cells, or on the street, all in the name of Jesus Christ. Wherever there were weary souls who needed the Lord, Dave was willing to go.
Dave was an avid lover of sports, especially basketball, at which he excelled as both a player and coach. He was a diehard North Carolina Tar Heel and Atlanta Braves fan. He taught and coached at Pee Dee Academy in Mullins, SC; Open Bible Christian School in Valdosta, GA; Roy Hudgens Academy in Lynchburg, SC, and Dillon Christian School in Dillon, SC, amassing a sterling win-loss record and many awards. Through the years as a teacher and coach, he touched the lives of many.
Without doubt, he was welcomed by Jesus into his eternal home with these words from Mattew 25:21: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things. Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."
He is already missed by everyone on earth who knew and loved him. But without question, Dave was so ready whenever Jesus saw fit to call him home. He longed to see Jesus and his beloved late mother, Sylvia Freeman Bult, offering tributes to her with the words, "see you soon".
Dave embodied the words of the Apostle Paul to Timothy, "I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
His family and friends rejoice that Dave is now living in his blessed hope. His celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Kingsburg Baptist Church in Johnsonville, officiated by his brother, Rev. Bryan Bult, Minister to Seniors at First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. in the sanctuary of the church and at other times at the home of Dr. David Bult, 612 Avon Circle in Mullins.
If you would like to remember Dave, the family suggests that memorials be made in his memory to the Gideons International, P.O.
