Deborah Ann Housand, 66, of Nichols passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center. She was born in Marion County on February 27, 1956, the daughter of the late Needham Housand and the late Julia Soles Matthews.

Debbie graduated from Green Sea Floyds High School and Francis Marion University with a degree in Education. In her younger years, she enjoyed baking and decorating cakes. Debbie was accomplished at cross stitching and had a true love for it. She found much pleasure in painting ceramics and was known for her artistic ability. Her love of genealogy and tracing her family roots and history was another enjoyment of hers. She willingly shared her knowledge with others. Debbie was so courageous and fought so hard as her health began to decline.

Debbie is survived by her brother, Danny Huggins and his wife, Mavis of Aynor.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2022 Riverside Cemetery in Nichols with Reverend Stephen Vipperman officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately after the service.

If you would like to remember Debbie, the family requests that memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29605.

The family would like to thank Shannon King, Mr. and Mrs. E.J. King, Debbie Highfill, and Lois Montgomery for the love and care that was shown to Debbie.
