Leroy "Dick" Rowell, 85, of Nichols passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 9, 2018. He was born in Horry County on February 16, 1933, the son of the late Charlie Rowell and Bessie Hammond Rowell. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and working in his yard. His greatest love though was for his family and his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Shelby.

Dick was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by three brothers, C.W. Rowell, Jim Rowell, and Wade Rowell; and three sisters, Janice Edwards,  Cora Belle Ellis, and Mildred Rowell.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Hammond Rowell of Nichols, three sons, T.L. Rowell (Michele), Ray Rowell, and Houston "Hugh" Rowell, all of Nichols; three daughters, Susie Watts (David) of Loris, Nancy Stanley (Larry) of Nichols, Gail Rowell Ford (Jerry) of Nichols; one brother, Guy Rowell of Nichols, two sisters, Dolly King of Lake View and Ann Dillhoff (Jim) of Ohio; ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Meares Funeral Home of Mullins. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
