Richard Dickie Johnson, 75, of Nichols passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born in Marion County, a son of the late Hugh McGee and Jean Floyd Johnson. Mr. Johnson loved the Nichols community and served as a former member of the Nichols Town Council, Marion County Council, and as Mayor of Nichols. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Emily McMillan Johnson; two sons, Jeff Johnson and his wife Bonnie and Brad Johnson and his wife Angela all of Nichols; a daughter, Natalie McDowell and her husband Tim of Nichols; a sister, Shirley Stanaland of Florence, and five grandchildren, Tori Johnson, Hayden Ponos, Lucas McDowell, Dylan McDowell, and London Johnson. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols directed by Meares Funeral Home of Mullins.
