Obituary

Draper LaShaun Buffkin, 38, of Nichols passed away at his home on Monday, February 27, 2023 following an accident. He was born in Marion County on March 19, 1984, the son of the late Calvin Carroll Buffkin and Barbara Draper Buffkin.

Draper was the type of person that was fun to be around, and his smile could light up a room. He loved making others laugh and people were drawn to him because of it. An animal lover, he enjoyed being around his horses and dogs making sure they were fed and well taken care of. In his free time, he enjoyed playing video games. His greatest love was his family, and he treated his nieces and nephews like they were his own.

Draper had attended Green Sea Floyds High School, after which he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his father, Draper was predeceased by a brother, Johnny Carroll Buffkin.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Draper Buffkin of Nichols; two sisters, Tammy Carnelia Gerrald of Florence and Kristen Roseanna Murphy of Nichols; his nieces and nephews, Kiyanna Rochelle Murphy, Kavon Roshem Murphy, Riva Alanna Gerrald and Caleb Rodney Gerrald; four great-nieces and nephews; two uncles, Mason (Erika) Draper and Dee Draper of Marion; aunt, Doris (John) Schaefer of Florida, and a sister-in-law, Paula Martin Buffkin.

There are no services planned at this time.
