Edward Lee
Mincey
Jun 16, 1959 — Sep 26, 2019
Nichols
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Edward "Ed" Lee Mincey on September 26, 2019 at his home in Pleasant View, South Carolina. He was 60 years old.
Ed graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS degree in Chemistry and was an avid Gamecock fan. After working as a water quality/environmental chemist for companies in Georgetown and Orangeburg counties, Ed made the decision to return home to Horry County to care for his grandmother until her passing. He spent his last years as the proud owner/operator of a big rig truck where he, his wife, and their cat, Ru, spent their time traveling around the country. Ed loved watching football, cooking good food to share with friends and family, and spending time with the ones he loved. He loved to laugh and enjoyed sitting around revisiting family stories. He was a loyal son, husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Ed was predeceased by his daughter, Melissa Monica Mincey, grandparents, Gladys Rhucile Strickland and Rufus "Buck" Strickland, and his father, James Edward Mincey.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda Martin Mincey; children, Adam (Pam) Lesley and Rebecca (Zack) Sieber; and his beloved grandchildren, Scott, Megan, Chloe, and Rowan. Ed also leaves behind his mother, Sallie Strickland Seaboch; sister, Sheri Mincey Blakely; and nieces and nephews, Rachel, Aleigha, and Jacob.
A memorial service in Ed's honor will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019 in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home followed by his final placement at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols, South Carolina.
