Elizabeth
Mincey
Sep 12, 1925 — Sep 22, 2024
Nichols
In memories we find comfort, in love we find peace.
Elizabeth Rowell Mincey, 99, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 22, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born in Horry County on September 12, 1925, the daughter of the late Lamar Rowell and the late Janie Blanton Rowell.
A friend to many, Elizabeth was a cherished member of the Pleasant View Community, where she and her late husband, Howard, lived and operated their tobacco farm. She never shied away from hard work, always helping on the farm when needed. Her natural gift, however, was serving and caring for others which was exemplified through her thirty-five years of nursing at Loris Hospital. Elizabeth was very conscientious in serving the many patients she encountered through the years. She remained strong and determined throughout her life. Through her, the family has learned what resilience and perseverance truly look like.
The greatest joy of Elizabeth's life was her family. Her love for her late husband and son, daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was endless and unconditional. Her favorite moments were spent with her family. Elizabeth was a longtime member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Howard, a son, Samuel Rendel Mincey, her son-in-law, Franklin Hodge, brothers, Bryan, Charlie, and Laverne Rowell, and a sister, Margaret Liddle.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Mincey Hodge of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Fran Huser (Hal), Chris Mincey (Cortney), Beth Arrington (Matt), Jason Hodge, and Jessica Collins (Clay); nine great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Rennie Mincey of Nichols; brothers, Hubert Rowell (Jeannine) of Matthews and John Keats Rowell (Lib) of Florence; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024, in the sanctuary of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Reverend Dale Willoughby officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Peggy Oliver for the compassionate and skilled care given to their loved one. She was a bright and constant presence in Elizabeth's life, and Elizabeth loved her like a daughter.
If you would like to remember Elizabeth, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to Pleasant View Baptist Church, 6190 Pleasant View Church Road, Nichols, South Carolina 29581.
