Mullins- Esta Mae Grainger McDowell, 93, of Mullins died Monday, March 25, 2013. She was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late Willie G. and Carrie Edge Holt. Mrs. McDowell was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved flowers which she shared through her membership in the Green Thumb Garden Club and the many lovely flowers in her yard. Mrs. McDowell was predeceased by her first husband, Carl P. Grainger, her second husband, Rupert McDowell, and two brothers, Oscar Holt and W.J. Holt. She is survived by a son, Wendell (Patricia) Grainger of Moyock, N.C.; a daughter, Elizabeth (Charles) Hammond of Mullins; two brothers, Talmadge Holt and Eugene (Jackie) Holt both of Conway; three grandchildren, Steven (Allison) Grainger, Kevin (Tammy) Hammond and Wendy (Bryan) Griffith; and three great-grandchildren, Rebecca Hammond, Hannah Grainger, and Bethany Hammond. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013 in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home with burial to follow in Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Nichols.
