Everett
Floyd
Oct 13, 1945 — Sep 22, 2026
Nichols
Everett Samuel Floyd, 80, of Nichols, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Anderson Oaks Assisted Living following a period of declining health. He was born in Mullins, South Carolina on October 13, 1945, the son of the late John Willard Floyd and the late Virgie Mae Willoughby Floyd.
He was a 1963 graduate of Floyds High School, after which he attended the South Carolina Area Trade School in Columbia, receiving a degree in electronics. Everett accepted a Civil Service position with the Charleston Naval Shipyard in the Radiological Control Division. In this capacity, he was responsible for the overseeing and inspection of the radiological aspects of nuclear submarines. He later served as an instructor there, training new employees, providing refresher courses, conducting drills, and serving as a supervisor for the waterfront radiological personnel.
In 2002, Everett moved back to his roots in the Nichols area to be close to his family. Everett was a man with a quiet strength and gentle spirit that always put others at ease. He made a lasting impression on the people he met while working in the shipyard as well as others he met throughout his life. There were many cherished moments shared with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Everett was predeceased by a brother, John Willard Floyd, Jr. “Jack” and his wife, Dorothy Floyd; a sister, Bobbie Ashby; sister-in-law, Deborah Adams Floyd; and a brother-in-law, James P. Dickson, Jr.
He is survived by a brother, Micheal Eric Floyd of Murrells Inlet; his sister, Shelby Floyd Dickson of Nichols; and a brother-in-law Richard Ashby of Nichols.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Nichols. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Anderson Oaks Assisted Living and Agape Hospice for the loving care, kindness, and compassion shown to Everett during his time with them.
