Obituary

Floyd Carroll Creech, 69, passed away peacefully May 1, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on February 24, 1957, in Morehead City, North Carolina, he was the son of the late George Carroll Creech and Dorothy Hemby Creech.

At the age of eleven, Floyd moved to La Grange, North Carolina, where he was raised on the family tobacco farm, a foundation that shaped his work ethic and character. He was a 1975 graduate of Bethel Christian Academy in Kinston and went on to pursue higher education at Bob Jones University in Greenville. His passion for learning eventually led him to earn his PhD from the University of South Carolina.

Floyd's professional journey brought him to Mullins, where he dedicated his life to education. He was a visionary leader who worked tirelessly to bring Montessori programs to rural communities, forever impacting the lives of countless students and fellow educators.

Beyond his professional accolades, Floyd was a devoted man of God and a mainstay of his family. On February 28, 1986, he married the love of his life, Marilyn McMillan Creech. Together, they recently celebrated 40 years of marriage defined by love, faith, and mutual devotion. A true family man, Floyd led his household with the grace and strength worthy of his Christian calling.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn McMillan Creech, of the home; his children, Gabriel Creech and wife Erin, Seth Creech and wife Caroline, and Grace Burton and husband Hunter. He was the proud grandfather of Ella, Emma, Samuel, Oliver, and Lindley, who all lovingly knew him as "Pappy."

He also leaves behind his sister, Dorothy Creech Finch and husband Ken, and their son Carter and wife Savannah, his brother-in-law, John McMillan, and a very special cousin, Kerri Creech and husband Ken Vaughn, along with their daughter, Meredith. Floyd remained extremely close with all of his cousins throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, George Carroll Creech and Dorothy Hemby Creech, he was preceded in death by several beloved family members.

A service to celebrate his life and faith will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday May 3, 2026, at Mullins Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jason Brewer officiating. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in the Fellowship Hall for a time of fellowship and remembrance immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Floyd's memory to Mission Mullins, c/o Mullins Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 671, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.
