Obituary

Forrest Elliott, 96, of Nichols passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 14, 2018. He was born in Nichols on October 8, 1921, the son of the late Hosea Elliott and the late Bright Lewis Elliott. Forrest lived a long and full life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II as an airplane mechanic. Following his discharge, Forrest returned home to Nichols and farmed for a few years in the community that he loved so much. Looking to make a change, he then began a career with Battle Gas Company that continued over forty years. It was during this time that he made many lasting friendships. He also dearly loved his family and his Carolina Gamecocks.

Forrest was predeceased by his wife, Vonceil Hutchinson Elliott; a brother, Bryan Elliott, two sisters, Ruth Townsend and Myrtle Case, and his grandson, Eric Luther.

He is survived by two daughters, Landis Elliott of Nichols, and Karen Luther (Terry) of Statesville, N.C., a sister, Arlene Jackson of Nichols; a grandchild, Elliott Luther and a great-grandchild, Lilly Luther.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols.
