Gwen
Campbell
Jun 27, 1932 — Apr 12, 2026
Nichols
Gwendolyn H. Campbell, 93, of Nichols passed away peacefully at Forest Acres Acute Care in Columbia on Sunday, April 12, 2026. She was born in Horry County on June 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Robert Huggins and the late Clara Belle Grainger Shelley.
Gwen held a deep love for her family and friends that lived in the Grainger Mill Pond Community. She was always willing to help and look out for others. It was one of the things that made her a special part of the community. A longtime member of Wannamaker Baptist Church, Gwen enjoyed worshipping there with her church family. Music was a sanctuary for her. She found great pleasure in it, especially listening to her late husband play his guitar, filling their home with the joy of music. Gwen believed the magic of Christmas was far too precious to be confined to a single month, so she left her tree up, fully decorated, year round. As her health declined, Gwen was blessed to be able to spend the last two years with her daughter in Hopkins. She will be greatly missed around the pond, but she is healed and reunited with her beloved, John.
In addition to her parents, Gwen is predeceased by her husband, John R. Campbell, a daughter, Sue Westmoreland, sons, Gene Causey and Harold Causey, and a half-sibling, Randy Shelley.
She is survived by her daughter, Lois Causey; a sister, Josephine Keck; half-sister, Judy Wesley; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols with Reverend Shawn Brashear officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
