Obituary

Manning/Mullins- James L. "Bud" Perritt, Sr., 79, of Manning and formerly of Lake View and Mullins passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Kemper, South Carolina, the son of the late Hubert Chester Perritt and Mary McCormick Perritt. Bud retired from military service after twenty years where he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Following his retirement from the military, he worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Lake View School District. Bud loved the water and spent as much time as he could there, having lived on the Little Pee Dee River at Fork Retch and later at Lake Marion. He was a devoted husband and father who absolutely loved being "Granddaddy" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Perritt was predeceased in addition to his parents by three brothers, Harris Eugene, Chester Glenn "Doc", and Robert Howard "Bob" Perritt. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Peggy Perritt; two sons, James L. (Tonya) Perritt, Jr. of Manning and Gerald W. (Jennifer) Perritt of Chapin; two daughters, Carol P. (Bubba) Hodges of Mullins and Gail P. (William) Fowler of Mullins; one brother, David Ray (Faye) Perritt of Lake View; four sisters, Clara P. Mozingo of Bishopville, Erline Perritt of Lake View, Betty P. (Jack) Moore of Lake City, and Faye P. Allen of Bladenboro, N.C.; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Bud's request was to have an informal service to celebrate his life. This service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home of Mullins with full military honors. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. The family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O.
