Jay
Dadds
Jul 29, 1958 — Oct 1, 2023
Mullins
Jay Marvin Dadds, 65, husband of Marshall Winn Dadds, entered into eternal rest at his home on Sunday, October 1, 2023 following a sudden illness. He was born in Queen Anne's County, Maryland on July 29, 1958, the son of the late Roland O. Dadds and the late Virginia Ervin Dadds.
A 1977 graduate of Mullins High School, Jay went on to attend and graduate from Florence-Darlington Technical College with a degree in Machine Tool Technology. He began working at AVM Strongarm Industries, a career that has lasted for forty-six years. He was a highly skilled tool and die maker and was dedicated to his work and the precision that his job required. Jay also worked at Harper's Electric as a contractor tool and die maker.
Jay enjoyed raising and ground working horses and attending horse shows to support his daughter and grandson, as they showed their horses. Jay was fortunate to have one of those special horses that enriched his life. His horse, Flint, added to his lifelong passion for horses and brought him endless joy and happiness. There is no doubt that his love of horses helped build the strong work ethic that Jay possessed, and there was most likely a horse there along with his Heavenly Father to welcome him as he entered the gates of heaven.
Jay was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was probably best known for being one of the humblest and kindest people you would ever meet. He was raised by his parents on a farm in Mullins and learned the value of hard work at an early age. Even while in high school, he would walk to the National Guard Armory and help with any projects that he could assist with. He instilled in his children the importance of hard work and love of family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and co-workers. When he wasn't working, Jay enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and had assisted Marshall in teaching the Sunday School class for ages 4 years old to 4th grade.
In addition to his parents, Jay was predeceased by a half-brother, Roland O. Dadds, Jr.
, Roland O. Dadds, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Marshall Winn Dadds; a daughter, Jennifer Winn Dadds (Jonathan Huey) of Goose Creek; his son, Raymond Roland Dadds (Angel) of Mullins; his grandchildren, Jack Edwin Huey and Alyssa Winn Dadds; a brother, Tommy O. Dadds (Betty Dubose) of Marion; his sisters, Darlene Ann Dadds (Randall Floyd) of Galivants Ferry and Annette Espinosa of Mountain Home, Idaho; nieces, Stacey Espinosa (Aaron Hudson) of Chicago, Illinois, Stephanie Harper of Carolina Forest, and Ryan Dadds of Kaneohe, Hawaii; nephew, Shawn Espinosa (Lindsay Warren) and her children Apple Elizabeth and Monrow Ash Espinosa of Woodstock, Vermont, his fur baby, Liza and his favorite horse, Flint.
A service of celebration will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Mullins with Reverend Brian Preveaux officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
