The family of Jerry Allen Barker of Concord, North Carolina, is saddened to announce his passing on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Atrium Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

Jerry was born on September 23, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio to Eugene and Betty Hayden Barker. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Eugene Barker.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for twenty years, retiring in 1995 as a Gunnery Sergeant. He went on to work for the North Carolina Department of Labor in Safety Compliance and for the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of thirty-two years, Lisa Soles Barker of Concord, and their daughter, Leigh Ann Barker of Orlando, Florida, and her fiancé, Armando Luis Garcia Vasquez. He is also survived by a sister, Susan Pence (Scot) of New Lebanon, Ohio, and two nephews, Jacob Barker (Bailey) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Cameron Barker of Saratoga Springs, New York.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Nichols. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Spring Branch Baptist Church.
