Obituary

James Taylor "Jim" Haydon, 90, of Mullins and husband of Nadine Tyner Haydon, passed away peacefully at McLeod Hospice House on Sunday, February 12, 2023. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky on March 19, 1932, the son of the late Frank Taylor Haydon and the late Elma Collinsworth Haydon.

Jim was a graduate of Bourbon High School and attended the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. In 1953, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country as an Airman First Class. For over twenty years, Jim worked with Motorola as their Southeastern Regional Sales Manager. In 1978, he purchased several Motorola Service Centers (B & C Communications) and served as owner and CEO until his retirement. In all, Jim was associated with Motorola for over forty years.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed hunting and golfing with friends and family, cooking, and traveling with Nadine. Another passion of his was reading from which he gained a vast knowledge on many subjects. A humble and kind man, he was quite simply a gentleman. Having grown up in Kentucky, he never forgot his agricultural roots which he displayed with his love of restoring old tractors and attending tractor shows.

He was a loving husband to Nadine for twenty-seven years, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a faithful member of Macedonia United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by several brothers and sisters, and a daughter-in-law, Maureen McGovern Haydon.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nadine; four sons, Alex Taylor Haydon of Dacula, Georgia, Jessie Mark Haydon (Suk) of Paris, Kentucky, Keith Dale Haydon (Deborah) of Kingsbury, Texas, and Leland Blair Haydon (Rebecca) of Grove City, Ohio; a brother, Hillary Gibbs Haydon (Judy) of AppleValley, Minnesota; Nadine's children, Dale McDaniel Rogers (Bill) of Mullins, Grady McDaniel of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gregory McDaniel (Lynne) of Johnston, South Carolina; a favorite aunt, Emma Lou McClure of Lexington, Kentucky; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
