Jimmie Mae
Norton
Mar 29, 1936 — Oct 14, 2026
Nichols
Jimmie Mae Crawford Norton, 90, of Nichols, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence. She was born in Horry County on March 29, 1936, the daughter of the late James Edwin Crawford and the late Luttie Mae Alford Crawford.
Jimmie Mae was a graduate of Mullins High School and later received her degree from Spartanburg Junior College. She met her husband, Lucian, while working at the drugstore in Mullins. They were married on April 6, 1958, and built a beautiful family and life together. Her greatest joy and proudest achievement was raising her three sons.
Throughout life, they called many places home but were blessed to be able to eventually return to the Nichols community and the family homeplace. After returning to the homeplace, Jimmie Mae found true peace and joy in her yard amongst her many azaleas. Every year her yard transformed into a display of vibrant colors. Jimmie Mae enjoyed being with family and friends, going to Dale’s, one of her favorite restaurants, and playing Bingo. She also had a passion for fashion and makeup. She loved to go shopping and genuinely believed that a little lipstick could make a bad day better.
In addition to her parents, Jimmie Mae was predeceased by her husband of fifty-four years, Lucian Norwood Norton, Jr., a son, Lucian Norwood “Lou” Norton, III, a brother, James Bryant “JB” Crawford, and her beloved chihuahua, Chi Chi.
She is survived by two sons, Terry Edwin Norton and his wife, Robin and Jim Crawford Norton and his wife, Cindy; a niece who was like a daughter, Lori Jacquelyn Jones; a brother, James H. Collins; four grandchildren, Gina Norton Gibeaut, Cheryl Norton, Skylar Norton, and Lou Bird Norton (Christian), and two great-grandchildren, Arcee and Valen.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 19, 2026, at Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church in Conway with Reverend Tom Sowell officiating. Interment will follow at Zoan United Methodist Church Cemetery.
