Jimmy
Little
Mar 19, 1932 — Sep 23, 2026
Nichols
James Coy “Jimmy” Little, 94, of Nichols, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. He was born in the Floyds section of Horry County on March 19, 1932, the son of the late Coy Lonerson Little and the late Ora Mae Rogers Little.
Jimmy was a graduate of Floyds High School in the Class of 1952. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict while stationed in Germany. Following graduation, he worked a short time in the Upstate with Daniel Construction Company. From 1959 until 1978, he worked for Vaughan Motor Company, having served several years as service manager. In 1978, Jimmy accepted a position with the school district and served for 19 years as an auto mechanic instructor at Marion County Technical School. He enjoyed teaching students how to repair, maintain, and diagnose motor vehicles. Following his retirement from the school district, Jimmy’s kindness and sincerity made him a perfect fit as a funeral assistant at Meares Funeral Home. He continued to do this until his health no longer allowed him to.
Jimmy lived a life rooted in his faith in Jesus Christ, who was a part of his daily life, guiding his steps, shaping his character, and he reflected Christ’s love to others. He was a devoted and loving husband to his late wife, Bonnie, and a proud supportive father to his children, Richard, Sharon, Beverly, and Ray. His guidance and patience left an enduring impression on his grandchildren. A faithful lifetime member of Wannamaker Baptist Church, he served with a servant’s heart as a Sunday School teacher, former chairman of the deacons, a choir member, and served on several committees. Jimmy was a member of Little Pee Dee Masonic Lodge #83, where he held offices and was the Lodge Master for many years. He was also a member of the Nichols American Legion. Jimmy served on the Nichols Town Council for eight years before being elected mayor, a position he held for 12 years. In addition to this, he also served several years as an active member of the Nichols Volunteer Fire Department. In his free time, Jimmy found joy working in his garden and sharing the bounty with others. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing. The family takes comfort in knowing that he has fought the good fight, finished the race, and is now rejoicing in the eternal presence of his Heavenly Father.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his wife, Bonnie Elliott Little, two brothers, Herman Little and Elery Little, and a sister, Coleen Little Hill.
Survivors include his four children, Richard Little (Priscilla), Sharon Little, Beverly Lewis (Bob), and James "Ray" Little; six grandchildren, Whitney Owens (Dawn), Casson Humphrey (Jonathan), Wesley Lewis, Stacey Owens (Rhett), James "Bubba" Little (Sarah), and Ray "Coy" Little (Mallie); five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Owens, Elliott Humphrey, Abigail Little, Ridge Little, Walker Little, and Owen Little.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2026, in the sanctuary of Wannamaker Baptist Church in Nichols. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Patriot Hospice, Amedisys Home Health, and Griswold Home Caregivers for the compassionate care provided to their loved one.
If you would like to remember Jimmy, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to Riverside Care, 8431 Elvington Road, Nichols, South Carolina 29581.
