Josephine Christmas Rogers, 88, of Mullins passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Mullins Nursing Center.  Jo was born in Marion County on October 17, 1931, the daughter of the late Charlie W. Christmas and the late Sallie M. Christmas. She loved her family and was a loving mother to her sons, both of whom predeceased her.  Prior to her declining health, she enjoyed gardening and always had a beautiful vegetable garden.  She liked for her family to come and eat with her, and her grandchildren still rave about her homemade biscuits.

Jo was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harry E. Rogers, her sons, James H. Rogers and Ronald A. Rogers, a grandson, Jamie H. Rogers, two brothers, Robert B. Christmas and Charlie S. Christmas.

She is survived by her sisters, Eulee C. Dozier (Johnny), Sallie "June" Rising, Frankie C. Worrell (John), Lorraine C. Brown, all of Mullins and Charlotte C. Baxley (Mike) of Brevard, NC; three grandchildren, Tara R. Garris (Kevin) of Green Sea, Wes Rogers of Mullins and Kerry R. Altman (Weston) of Galivants Ferry and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2020 in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Garris officiating. The family will receive friends in the foyer of the funeral home following the service.  The family will lay Jo to rest at Cedardale Cemetery. We respectfully request that you wear a mask and practice social distancing while in the funeral home.
