Joan
Turner
Apr 11, 1948 — May 22, 2021
Mullins
Joan Mayers Turner, 73, of Mullins, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the home of her daughter. She was born in Mullins, South Carolina on April 11, 1948, the daughter of the late Cornelius "Buck" Mayers and the late Helen Pace Mayers.
As a young adult, Joan's life centered around creating a beautiful home and caring for her little girl. She took enormous pleasure in being a homemaker and mother, until a car accident in 1978 changed her life and left her with several disabilities. She had to learn to do basic things again, which most of us take for granted. For four decades, she met every hardship and every challenge without complaint. We rejoice in knowing that today, she is perfect, reunited with her parents and her brother, and resting in the arms of her Savior.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Craig Mayers.
She is survived by her daughter, Ashley Turner Clinton, and her husband, Richard; three grandchildren, Estelle and Eliza Doyle and Riley Clinton, all of Mt. Pleasant, and a special sister-in-law, Martha Webster of Mullins.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Cedardale Cemetery in Mullins.
If you would like to remember Joan, the family suggests that memorials be made in her memory to the institution that saved her life, MUSC Foundation, 18 Bee Street, MSC 450, Charleston, South Carolina or giving.musc.edu.
