Joe is survived by his mother, Margaret Smith Owens Morris, his wife, Carla Buffkin Owens, two daughters, Anna Marie Owens (Tailor Godwin) all of Mullins and Kelli Joanna Nelson of Minneapolis, MN; a brother, Thomas Mitchell Owens (Terry) of Florence; a sister, Lynn Owens Bessetti of Mullins, one grandson, Elijah Nelson, a sister-in-law, Gayle Pitts of Camden; brother-in-laws, Ricky Buffkin (Gwen) of Mullins and Johnny George of Charlotte, NC, and his most faithful companion, Royal.
