Obituary

Bobby Joseph "Joey" Hill, 64, of Mullins passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 with his father and siblings by his side. He was born in Mullins on June 10, 1959, the son of Bob Hill and the late Gloria Barfield Hill.

Following high school, Joey enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served his country proudly, receiving the Good Conduct Medal. After leaving the military, he joined the South Carolina Highway Patrol and later retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

A loving son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend, Joey would do whatever he could to help someone in need. If he had it, he was willing to give it to you, except his fishing gear. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, and he was very particular about his fishing equipment. He also enjoyed visiting flea markets and yard sales obtaining many great finds through the years. A real people person, he could make conversation with people, no matter the age or the background.

In addition to his mother, Joey was predeceased by sisters, Virginia Altman and Barbara Collins, a brother-in-law, Doug McColl and a sister-in-law, Susie Hill.

He is survived by his father, Bob Hill; brothers, Donnie Hill and Greg (Edy) Hill; his sisters, Sheila Pervell, Rhonda McColl, and Sharon (Harold) Elvington; his loving companion, Janet Campbell; loving nieces and nephews, Gregory (Casey) Hill, Kari Pervell, Wesley (Krista) McColl, Matt (Ryn) McColl, David (Nancy) Wannamaker, Madison Elvington, and Bailee Elvington; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and special aunts, Kay Floyd and Gail Hooks.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 2, 2024 at McMillan Cemetery in Mullins with Reverend Robbie Baxley officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service and at other times at the Hill home.

If you would like to remember Joey, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to McMillan Cemetery, c/o Phil McMillan, 3203 Gilchrist Road, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.
