Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Arch McMillan, Jr, a beloved member of the Mullins community, who left this world on Friday, February 21, 2025, just a few days shy of his 70th birthday. He left this world a better place, just because he was in it. Arch was born in Mullins on February 24, 1955, the son of the late John Arch McMillan, Sr. and the late Mary Register McMillan.

Arch was a graduate of Mullins High School and Midlands Technical College. Upon his graduation, Arch founded McMillan Utilities which he has owned and operated for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman, whether it was spending time on the river, hunting with his friends at Causey Hunting Club, or piddling around on the family farm, it was where he found great peace. He was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church and the McMillan Cemetery Board.

With his infectious smile and baby blue eyes, Arch could light up any room. His kindness and genuine warmth touched the lives of so many. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his fiancée, Lesley Hinson Brown of Mullins; his son, John Arch "Jebb" McMillan III (Jamie) of Florence; a daughter, Margaret Deanna "Meg" McMillan of Murrells Inlet; sisters, Debbie McMillan Beeson of Mullins and Lisa McMillan Gibson of Socastee; three grandchildren, John Grayson McMillan, William Smith McMillan, and Chandler Reese McMillan; Lesley's children, David Michael Smith (Wendy) and Ashleigh Smith Young (Justin), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2025, at McMillan Cemetery in Mullins with Reverend Robbie Baxley officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service and at other times at the home of his sister, Debbie Beeson.

If you would like to remember Arch, the family suggests that memorials be made to McMillan Cemetery, c/o Phil McMillan, 3203 Gilchrist Road, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.
