Johnny
Lane
Nov 9, 1943 — Apr 6, 2019
Mullins
John Carroll "Johnny" Lane, 75, of Mullins passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. He was born in Mullins on November 9, 1943, the son of the late James T. "Ted" Lane and Miriam Inez Lane. Johnny was a graduate of Mullins High School and received his degree in civil engineering from Florence Darlington Technical School. As a young boy, Johnny began building houses with his father and grandfather. These experiences encouraged his love for building and designing residential homes in the Mullins area. He had retired from Frank Horne Construction of Fair Bluff, North Carolina, where he served as an engineer and construction manager. Previously, Johnny worked with the North Carolina Department of Transportation in bridge construction and had also worked in telephone construction, and residential and commercial construction. Johnny was an avid fisherman in both saltwater and freshwater. In his spare time, he loved fishing and any activity on the Little Pee Dee River.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Amelia "Amy" McMillan Lane; five children, John Charles (Ashley) Lane of Latta, David Carroll (Luanne) Lane of Dillon, Daniel James Lane of Latta, Matthew Keith Lane of Loris, and Amelia Meredith Lane of the home; four grandchildren, Colby, Jesse, Raegan, and Seth.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2019 in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home with Reverend Robbie Baxley and Reverend Paul Alford officiating. The family will receive friends in the foyer of the funeral home following the service.
If you would like to remember Johnny, the family suggests that memorials be made in his memory to Mullins First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 443, Mullins, South Carolina 29574 or to a charity of your choice.
