Mullins-

Kathleen Buffkin Elliott, 67, passed away Friday, April 08, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Marion County, the daughter of the late Woodrow and Bell Cox Buffkin. Always a hard worker, Kathleen worked for many years at AVM and later alongside her husband, as co-owner of Nichols Transport Company. She loved her home and life on the Little Pee Dee River and working in her flowers. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she could often be found at the racetrack, following her son and Elliott Motorsports.

Kathleen was predeceased in addition to her parents, by four sisters, Margie Pridgen, Barbara Hazelton, Betty Brown, and Linda Hough.

She is survived by her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Gordon Elliott; a daughter, Amy (Jimmy) Herrington of Mullins, a son, Michael Elliott of Nichols; two granddaughters, Taylor Herrington and Avery Elliott; numerous nieces and nephews, and her canine companion, Bebe.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10th in the chapel of the funeral home. Entombment will be at Palmetto Memorial Gardens in Marion.
