Linda George
Schiavo
Oct 16, 1947 — Feb 24, 2018
Mullins
Linda Ann George Schiavo, 70, of Mullins passed away peacefully Saturday, February 24, 2018 in the comfort of her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born on October 16, 1947, the daughter of the late Furman and Dawsie Ann George. She was born and raised in Mullins, and was extremely proud to call Mullins her home. Linda's love for Mullins was evident in everything she did, including establishing her restaurant, Garden Alley, on Main Street in Mullins and serving as a former member of Mullins City Council. Linda had a strong desire to succeed and was a very successful businesswoman long before many women entered into business. Her work ethic was unmatched, and she approached her cancer diagnosis much the same way. Her greatest love; however was for her family. She was proud of the George name and very protective of her brothers, and they of her. Her daughter, Dayna, and granddaughter, Kaylee were her life, and she loved being Ya-Ya to Kaylee.
Linda was predeceased in addition to her parents, by her husband, Dan Schiavo, and a nephew, Will George.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Dayna Ann Schiavo (Benny Utley) of Mullins; her granddaughter, Kaylee Ann Gordon; two brothers, Tommy (Beldon) George of Marion and Wayne (Helen) George of Mullins, her longtime friend, Wright Small of Mullins: several nieces, nephews, and cousins, her extended family at Garden Alley and her four-legged friends, Gigi and Teeger.
The family will greet friends from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m., Monday February 26, 2018 in the Fellowship Hall of Mullins First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. on Monday in the sanctuary of the church with burial to follow at Cedardale Cemetery. The family is also receiving friends at Linda's home, 404 Melrose Avenue in Mullins. Linda is in the care of Meares Funeral Home.
If you would like to remember Linda, the family suggests that memorials be made in her memory to Mullins First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 443, Mullins, South Carolina 29574 or to the Marion County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 183, Marion, South Carolina 29571.
