Mullins- Mae Herring Sawyer passed away peacefully on her ninety-second birthday, Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Mullins Nursing Center. She was born in Dillon County, the daughter of the late Franklin and Dannie Cook Herring. Mrs. Sawyer was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church, the Crusaders Sunday School Class, and the Floretta Boyd Circle group which she enjoyed attending prior to her declining health. She was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Sawyer was predeceased in addition to her parents, by her husband, Harold Sawyer; her son-in-law, William Rollen Cribb; two brothers, Bennett and Dennis Herring; and two sisters, Ima H. Lewis and Nellie Hayes. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Sawyer Cribb of Whiteville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Sharon C. (Marvin) Hamilton and Laura C. (Brett) Davis; three great-grandchildren, Nicole Beth Hamilton, Katelynn D. Barnhill, and Abigail "Abby" Davis; four nieces, Sandy Herring Duncan of Mullins, Peggy Morris of Charlotte, Shirley (Roger) O'Conner of Falls Church, VA, and Marilyn Westbrook of Nichols; and three nephews, Perry (Jean) Herring of Marion, Harold (Pat) Lewis of Rock Hill, and Wallace (Genny) Hayes of Mullins. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Mayers Cemetery in Mullins with Reverend Jim Kirkland officiating.
