Mary King
Martin
Dec 12, 1960 — Sep 27, 2026
Aynor
Mary Ann King Martin, 65, of Aynor, entered into eternal rest at Seacoast Medical Center on Sunday, September 27, 2026, with her loving sister and niece by her side. She was born in Mullins, South Carolina on December 12, 1960, the daughter of the late James Britt King and the late Frances Ann Branton King.
Mary entered the world just a few minutes after her twin sister, Martha. From their very first breath, they shared a close bond. The two navigated life together and shared a love that only twins can understand. Yesterday, they were reunited in heaven.
Mary met and married Michael Martin, the love of her life, and together they built a partnership and loving home until Michael’s passing in 2024. For the last two years of her life, she carried the heavy, but beautiful weight of missing him. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is once again with the family that preceded her in death.
Mary’s life was defined by a love for animals. Her kind and gentle heart helped those animals find safety and an unconditional love. She had several hens, and you could usually find a basket of fresh eggs on the kitchen counter. Mary also had two dogs and a cage with brightly colored birds inside. To step into her home was to step into a room filled with the sounds of her cherished animals.
Mary was a graduate of Green Sea Floyds High School. She worked for many years with the hospital system as a cardiac monitor technician monitoring patients for changes in heart rhythms. One of her favorite pastimes was shopping. She was known for doing for others, and she believed money was better spent on someone else. In her spare time, Mary also enjoyed gardening and playing games on her phone. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, James and Frances King, her husband, Michael Martin, her twin sister, Martha King, a brother, Glen King, and a great-nephew, Chance Huggins.
She is survived by her sister, Debra King Causey; nieces, Karen (Elvis) Merck and Nikki Huggins; two great-nieces, Janey Merck and Savanah Huggins; a great-nephew, Joseph Merck; an uncle, Henry Branton (Faye), aunts, Edna Martin (Roy) and Lois Chestnut (Lenwood); a stepson, Justin Martin (Donette), and two step-grandchildren, Sophia and Rebecca Martin.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins with Reverend Benji Hutson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
If you would like to remember Mary, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 535 Nichols Highway South, Nichols, South Carolina 29581.
