Michael
Martin
Oct 12, 1958 — Nov 16, 2024
Aynor
Michael Joseph Martin, 66, beloved husband of Mary Ann Martin, of Aynor, passed away peacefully at Conway Medical Center on Saturday, November 16, 2024, following a period of declining health. He was born in Horry County on October 12, 1958, the son of the late O.C. Martin and the late Zettie "Bob" Rabon Martin.
Mike was a 1978 graduate of Aynor High School, after which he settled and made Aynor his home. He navigated through several obstacles with his health through the years and rose above them all. He was an inspiration to all who knew him, and the perseverance he demonstrated. Michael was a great debater, always wanting to gain and share new knowledge, and had the ability to articulate that knowledge with his quick wit and sense of humor. Mary, his wife of the past eight years, brought him great joy. They supported each other and delighted in the simple things in life.
In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Martha King.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Martin of Aynor; a son, Justin Martin and his wife, Donette of Moncks Corner; two grandchildren, Sophia and Rebecca Martin; a brother, Carl Eugene Martin (Wanda) of Aynor; three sisters, Marilyn Skipper (Windell) of Greer, Carolyn Rabon (Buddy) and Brenda Squires, both of Aynor; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, and a sister-in-law, Debra Causey of Green Sea.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Benji Hutson officiating.
