Obituary

Miriam Louise Jenkins Allen, 80, of Mullins passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at MUSC Health Mullins Nursing Center. Miriam was born in Horry County on January 22, 1943, the daughter of the late James Ralph Jenkins and the late Nannie Marie Hinson Jenkins.

Miriam loved her family and always looked forward to having them around her. She enjoyed the holidays and cooking the traditional dishes. She also enjoyed time with her network of friends at the nursing home. Whether it was playing bingo or attending church services, Miriam always looked forward to participating in the activities there. She delighted in filling her time with adult coloring books, puzzles, and watching the old classic television programs on MeTV. She loved her church Open Door Independent Church in Zion. While still living at home, Miriam enjoyed caring for her pets and walking her dog. She loved collecting angel figurines and is now singing in the angel choir above.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Joe Jenkins and Charlie Jenkins, two sisters, Annette McLellan and Betty Jenkins, and a granddaughter, Michelle Ward.

She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Ward (Rocky) of Longwood, North Carolina and Bonnie Johnson (Jeff) of Nichols; a brother, Ray Jenkins (Debbie) of Florence; four grandchildren, Rebecca Walsh, Crystal Brown, April Ward, and Victoria Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Jaron Stephens, Nevaeh Stephens and Cadence Walsh, and four special nieces.
