Naomi Blackwell, 90, entered into the arms of her waiting Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at McLeod Hospice House.  The daughter of the late Robert Allen Maynor and the late Dother Jose Lee, Naomi was born in Marion County on November 16, 1930.

Naomi was devoted to her church and took advantage of every opportunity to worship.  As a member of Mullins Marion Freewill Baptist Church, Naomi served in many capacities but was best known for teaching Sunday School there for over 13 years.  In her early years, she served as a supervisor at Marvel Lighting and as a school crossing guard. She had a pleasant outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Her family often affectionately referred to her as a "guinea wasp" because even though she was small in stature, she never pulled any punches and told you exactly how it was. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Naomi was predeceased by her husband, Willie Jesse Blackwell.

She is survived by a son Allen Blackwell and his wife, Ann of Mullins; her daughter, Ann Douglas and her husband, Leroy of Marion; a sister, Bobbie Croft of Marion; three grandchildren, Liston Blackwell (Barbara) of Turbeville, Christopher Blackwell (Joni) of Sumter, and Julie Ann Mounger (Tyler) of Marion; three great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 12, 2021 in the sanctuary of Mullins Marion Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow the visitation on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Reverend Thad Jacobs officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.

If you would like to remember Naomi, the family suggests that memorials be made in her memory to the Mothers' Class of the Mullins Marion Freewill Baptist Church, 214 Drew Road, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.
