Charles Nicky Owens, 77, of Mullins passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born in Marion County on October 27, 1946, the son of the late Lonza Owens and the late Vera White Owens.

Following his graduation from Carlisle Military School, Nicky enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country. He was a member of the Presidential Honor Guard representing his country at public and official ceremonies. While a member of the military, he married the love of his life, Elaine Martin Owens. After his discharge, he worked for the CSX Railroad as a conductor until his retirement.

Nicky was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, and typical "country boy". He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Wahee Gun Club.

In addition to his parents, Nicky was predeceased by a brother, George Robert Owens.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Elaine Martin Owens; a son, Jack Christopher Owens and his wife, Sherri of Marion; his daughter, Cathleen Marie Owens of Mullins; grandchildren, Caroline Christy Owens Hardwick (Joseph), Christa Richardson Riley (Dallas),  and Cameron Bolton; his great-grandchildren, Ava Claire Hardwick, Aiden Riley, and Joseph Bodie Hardwick; aunts, Cecil Stephens and June Barnett, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service to celebrate Nicky's life will be held at a later date.
