Obituary

Pamela Miller Stroud, 67, beloved nurse and friend to many passed away peacefully Friday, October 20, 2023 at MUSC Mullins Nursing Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Dillon County on April 21, 1956, the daughter of the late Wade Miller and the late Patricia Barfield Miller.

Pam was a graduate of Lake View High School and Florence-Darlington Technical College after which she began a long career in nursing. She had a natural gift for serving others which was exemplified through her forty years of nursing. Her career began at Mullins Hospital and continued through the years at our local hospital until her retirement from MUSC Health Marion Medical Center. The epitome of what a nurse should be, Pam not only took care of her patients, but she also shared her knowledge and experience as she mentored other nurses. She was very conscientious in serving her patients with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Pam's kindness and love carried over from her job to her home. She was a loving wife to her late husband, Michael and cared for him faithfully as his health failed. She enjoyed being on the Stroud family farm, caring for and loving on the animals, or just riding around the property. Pam had a big heart and loved people.

In addition to her parents, Pam was predeceased by her husband, Michael Stroud, and a brother, Mitchell Wade Miller.

She is survived by two nephews, Shane Miller (Christy) and Tristan Miller; a special cousin and best friend, Sharon Elvington (Harold) and their children, Bailee and Madison; stepdaughter, Lauren Doherty (Max); great-niece, Kimberly Ann Miller; great-nephew, Michael Shane Miller, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Angela Miller and Karen Stroud; step-grandchildren, Mason and Ace Doherty; special aunt, Kay Floyd, and many cousins and dear friends.
