Obituary

Patricia Ann "Pat" Foil, 88, of Mullins left her loving son, Drew, for her heavenly home to join her Savior and her beloved husband, son and daughter on Sunday, August 9, 2020.  She was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina on May 24, 1932, the daughter of the late Elbert Heaton Petree, Jr. and Margaret Mozell Spainhour Petree.

Pat possessed a true servant's heart, and she used this to set an example of how to live as a Godly Christian woman for her family and for others.  She dedicated her life to Macedonia United Methodist Church in Mullins and the music ministry there as the music and choral director for many years.  Her smile, her sweet caring personality and the way she put her faith first in all she did will be remembered by all who knew her.  Pat graduated from James A. Gray High School in Winston Salem in 1950.  She met her late husband, Bill, at a church youth group that they both attended, and they were married on June 16, 1951 at Trinity Moravian Church in Winston Salem.  Their first child, Beth was born on January 4, 1954, and two years later on June 19, 1956, Mark Sr. was born.  After they moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, they had their third child, Drew on August 17, 1963.  Following in her father's footsteps, Pat began her music ministry as a choir director in 1964 in Chapel Hill.  In 1972, the Foils moved to Greenville, South Carolina where Pat became music minister for Aldersgate United Methodist Church.  They made their move to Mullins in 1976, where Pat took the position of Director of Creative Ministries for Macedonia United Methodist Church and continued as the Music Minister until 2011.  During her time at Macedonia, she was a UMYF leader, directed multiple choirs, and introduced the Anderson Bell Ringers.  She was instrumental in establishing the childcare center at the church and cofounded and directed Son Fun, a weeklong bible school for the children of the community.  Prior to her declining health, she was an active member of the Board of Global Ministries, the creator and  grant writer for Wallace Family Life Center, an active member of the Women's Mission Organization, served as a past president of the Mullins Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Mullins Choral Club,  a director of the Mullins Playmakers, and a director of The Singing Christmas Tree.  She touched a countless number of lives through her many projects and her ability to allow God to shine through her.

In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband, Dr. William C. "Bill" Foil, a son, Mark Alan Foil, Sr.; a daughter, Dr. Mary Beth Foil, and sisters, Martha Petree Weaver and Sarah Petree Allen.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Drew and Jan Foil of Mullins; a daughter-in-law, Susan Stackhouse Foil of Rock Hill; brothers, Jim Petree (Jan) of Raleigh, NC and John Petree; six grandchildren, Mark Alan Foil Jr. (Kimberly) of Charleston, Lorie Foil of Rock Hill, Brittany Shelley (Blake) of Mullins, Lindsay Matthews of Mullins, Tarah Bailey of Texas, and Tucker Foil of Weaverville, North Carolina, ten great-grandchildren, Kevin, Patrick, Kimney, Mark Alan III, Caden, Ashton, Keely, Logan, Adrian, and Emilia.
