Mullins- Peggy Gibson McKenzie, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. She passed away peacefully at McLeod Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born on August 1, 1939 in Nichols, S.C., a daughter of the late Noah and Bertha Beck Gibson. Mrs. McKenzie was predeceased by one brother, James Donald Gibson. She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Gene McKenzie of the home; one daughter, Gina McKenzie Crooks and her husband Julian of Jamestown, N.C.; seven sisters, Miriam (Douglas) Blanton of Cayce, Shirley (John) OConner of Mullins, Gloria (Louie) Pittman of Marion, Barbara (Johnny) Carter of Marion, Cathy (Jack) Gaskins of Yanceyville, N.C., Helen Phipps of Blythewood, S.C. and Terry (Mitch) Owens of Florence; and four granddaughters, Hillary, Katlin, Julieanna, and Lauryn Crooks. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
