Polly
Fisher
Oct 2, 1947 — Dec 6, 2024
Nichols
Polly Ann Woodbury Fisher, 77, of Nichols passed away peacefully Friday, December 6, 2024, surrounded by love, and is now rejoicing in the arms of Jesus. She was born in Horry County on October 2, 1947, the daughter of the late William Melvin Woodbury and the late Ruby Elease Collins Pingley. Following the passing of Polly's father at a young age, her mother remarried Homer Arden Pingley. Polly always felt the love and support that both her father and Homer provided.
Polly graduated from Mullins High School, where she was salutatorian of her class. She continued her education at the University of South Carolina and received her nursing degree in 1968. Polly had a natural gift for caregiving and service to others, which was exemplified through her forty-three years of being a nurse. She was very conscientious in serving her patients with a true compassion and knowledge. Through the years, she had worked in various departments at Mullins Hospital and Marion County Medical Center. Polly was instrumental in starting the Cardiac Rehab Program at the hospital and ended her career serving as a home health nurse for DHEC.
An avid gardener, Polly loved flowers and all things green. Her yard boasted a wide variety of beautiful flowers, plants and koi ponds. There was always an abundance of color, both in her yard and on her porch.
As Polly's health began to fail, she continued to embrace others with a smile on her face. She never lost her positive spirit and determination, even after the loss of her husband and soulmate, Harry. She was devoted to her family and leaves them with a powerful lesson and legacy, centered around family, faith, and perseverance.
In addition to her parents, Polly was predeceased by her stepfather, Homer Arden Pingley, husband, William Harrison "Harry" Fisher, a daughter, Patricia Ann Pingley Soles, brother, William Thomas Woodbury, and a sister, Linda Louise Woodbury Collins.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darenda and Wendell Rabon; grandchildren, Joshua Rabon (Savannah), Jacob Rabon (Lauryn), Cecily Carter (Graham), Haley Rabon, Christopher Henderson, Drake Henderson, and Tanya Soles, and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m., Monday, December 9, 2024, at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Funeral services will follow the visitation, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Robbie Baxley officiating. Interment will be at McMillan Cemetery.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks and gratitude for the compassionate care given to Polly by Debbie DeLisa and Marcella Jones.
