Obituary

Rachel E Powell, age 77 of Mullins, went to her eternal rest on Tuesday, December 23, 2020.  The widow of Jimmy D. Powell, she was born in Marion County on June 11, 1943 to the late Walter Clyde Hardy and Mattie Lee Collins.

After graduating from Marion High School, Rachel began a long work career where she was employed by various industries in Marion County.  Upon her retirement from the workforce, she eagerly devoted her time to her beloved children, grandchildren and very special great grandchildren.  This great lady was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.  Her family was definitely the most important aspect of her earthly life. She was a dedicated member of the Open Door Independent Baptist Church of Zion.  Rachel openly professed her faith and love for her Lord and Savior.  She found great enjoyment and relaxation working in her yard while caring for the beautiful creations provided by nature.

Rachel is survived by her son Johnny Johnson (Kim) of Mullins and daughter Sharon Bueno (Juan) of Mullins.   She also leaves her brothers Larry Hardy (Marsha) of Marion and Michael Hardy (Sandra) of Marion to cherish her memory.   Rachel is also survived by grandchildren Ronnie Small (Julie) of Mullins, Wendy Bueno of Mullins, Jeffrey Johnson (Nikki) of Florence, Kristin Johnson of Dillon, Zack Johnson of Nichols and Tiffany Bass of Marion.  There are 10 Great Grandchildren who are left with fond and loving recollections of Rachel.  Great Grandchildren Ryan Small, Koby Small and Cree Anderson had very special places in her heart, as did all other great grandchildren.  She is also survived by 5 Step Grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Jimmy, Rachel was preceded in death by brothers William Hardy and Robert Hardy as well as sisters Patsy Elliott, Sandra Bryant and Marilyn Harrelson.
